“There had been all this talk of ’the new minimalism’. So I thought, fuck it, maximalism is what we want to do.” And the first thing that came to mind was couture. “I liked the idea of its extremity of proportion and silhouette. I thought about how eveningwear had become redefined over the last decade as a cliche of the mini-cocktail dress with a high heel; and it made me think, maybe the hem should go to the ground, really drastic, with huge volumes.”
